I have enrolled in an illustrator class, because I need to improve on my skills as an artist in that program. I know my way around Photoshop really well, but Illustrator definitely gives me some trouble. I have enrolled in some classes at Nicole’s Classes, and I have finished my first week of Illustrator 101. The above Typographic Poster is one of the posters I created for my week one homework (I even created my own chevron :)). It is really interesting that the quote I chose to use has an even deeper meaning today, as we have received some news that was unexpected. I originally chose the quote because I just love to ride my bike, and I liked the parallel in life.
I used my newly purchased font, Carolyna Black Pro, for the word ‘Life’, and just a simple serif font for ‘is a beautiful ride’ (which I wish was a little smaller now that I am looking at this poster…oh well!). The color scheme came from a very calming swatch from Design-Seeds.
I am loving the ‘go at your own pace and at your own schedule’ flexibility of Nicole’s Classes. I like the application that the class is taught in, and I am really digging the teaching style of Alma Loveland from Ollibird.com. I would definitely recommend the classes to anyone who is looking to create new skills or sharpen existing skills.
I look forward to more education and creativity in my very near future!
