When it comes to your blog, one important factor in creating a “brand” is bleeding that brand into everything you touch. Your brand should be apparent on your social media platforms that you connect to your blog, all marketing materials (business cards, newsletter, email messages, etc…).
One key to stretching your brand is by being consistent with your images on your blog. Whether you use a watermark of your logo, or use the same fonts from your site to dress up an image, just keep it consistent. Don’t start introducing tons of different fonts if your site only uses 2-4 (which is ideal).
With my doTERRA blog, I stay consistent by using the same fonts (although I do change up the color depending on the photo being used), a thin line around the image, and I always make sure there is a watermark (or text) that will lead the reader back to the source. So, if someone finds the image on Pinterest, they’ll still be able to find the URL from the image.
So, with your site, create a set of design “rules” that will tie together the look and feel of all of your marketing materials, your blog, and beyond. Use your brand to create an awareness of YOUR brand, and also to differentiate you from other brands.
And remember….be CONSISTENT!
