The lovely Kiran, from Masala Chica, contacted me to give her site and brand a complete overhaul. She wanted the whole enchilada, and that is what she got!
We got started right away in Basecamp, where I keep all of my projects organized, and every step of the way, Kiran was an excellent client to work with.
We transferred her blog from the free wordpress.com platform (exporting content/images/etc..), and now she is owning and rocking her own content on the wordpress.org platform. Site ownership is such a great feeling!
Here is a before picture (using a free template from wordpress.com):
And, this is what it looks like now:
With the new design, we implemented consistent branding across her social networking platforms (facebook and twitter), installed a slider, social media icons, a custom ‘about section’, a facebook like plugin, a blog button, an instagram plugin, and some code restructuring that gives her home page a very unique look. I’m very pleased that the design is featured in the StudioPress Showcase.
This is what Kiran had to say about the process:
“When I decided to take the plunge and move off of WordPress.com to a self-hosted site, I wasn’t sure what steps to take. I quickly realized I could not do it on my own and contacted Julie at Blogger Boutique to help me out. Though we worked together remotely, the process was fairly seamless. With Julie managing all communications and the project in Basecamp, we were able to work collaboratively to push towards my vision for the blog. She was also able to answer any technical questions I had so that I would feel comfortable with managing the maintenance of the site post launch. I would highly recommend Julie if you are looking to either “freshen up” your social media presence or if you need a full blog overhaul.”
Kiran is an ideal client, and I enjoyed the entire process of setting up her pretty little corner of the web! Take a moment to read her blog, share some laughs, and maybe even some tears.
